GRABER ORTHODONTICS WINS TWO NATIONAL AWARDS INCLUDING DOCTOR OF THE YEAR AT ORTHODONTIC TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE IN LOS ANGELES
VERNON HILLS, Ill., March 1, 2016—Vernon Hills and Glenview-based orthodontic practice Graber Orthodontics won two awards at the national 2016 SureSmile Conference held in Los Angeles, California. The practice was recognized for overall excellence in providing SureSmile, a revolutionary system that uses robotics and digital 3-D scans to increase precision and decrease the length of treatment time and discomfort compared to traditional braces.
During the conference, Graber Orthodontics was recognized for Outstanding Office Coordination, Outstanding Public Relations Coordination, and “Star Among Us” (a.k.a. Doctor of the Year winner) – Dr. Katie Graber for outstanding clinical performance and dedication to the specialty of orthodontics. Graber Orthodontics was an early adapter of the technology that has been available now since 2004. As an expert provider, Dr. Katie Graber travels to Dallas every other month to instruct orthodontists new to the systems on best practices. More than 400 orthodontists globally offer the technology.
In addition to these prestigious industry awards, during the conference, Dr. Katie Graber hosted a hands-on session for orthodontists that focused on tips for treatment planning and robotic wire design. Graber Orthodontics Practice Administrator Mallory Koch and Treatment Coordinator Dana Ellicson lent their expertise in a session on communicating the treatment options SureSmile brings to the practice.
“These awards are a reflection of the dedication shared by our entire Graber Orthodontic team,” said Dr. Lee Graber. “We are committed to providing our patients with the best orthodontic technology available mixed with outstanding care. We are thrilled to be recognized on a national stage by SureSmile for Dr. Katie’s and our team’s outstanding achievements.”
Unlike conventional orthodontics, which relies on plaster models and 2-D imaging, SureSmile provides an orthodontist with a detailed 3-D computer model of the patient’s teeth, allowing the doctor to precisely plot individual tooth movement through the entire course of treatment—from start to finish. ABO (American Board of Orthodontics) scoring shows the process improves the end result with more precise alignment.
Using high-tech wires customized through a robotic process, the orthodontist can move each tooth to the target position more directly. The same software can be used to place brackets on the back side or lingual side of the teeth with the same superior control, or to create clear aligners when moderate movement is needed and the patient desires a more aesthetic solution.
